The Talkeetna Bachelor Society's fundraising activities benefit the Talkeetna Bachelor Society’s Fund for Women and Children in Crisis, administered by the Sunshine Community Health Center, and several other organizations. Here a list of 2015-2016 Funding Requests and Amounts Donated. Instead of hosting a dinner where we discuss the problems of the world, we throw a party. The 31st Annual Wilderness Woman Contest and the 36th Annual Bachelor Auction and Ball will take place again on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 in beautiful downtown Talkeetna.

The Wilderness Woman Contest, is a ladies only competition which determines the woman with the best Alaskan skill set. Be ready to compete at 12:00 pm sharp. The event is free to anyone who wishes to enter, and takes place smack dab in the middle of town, on Main Street. Registration opens at noon in the Fairview Inn.

After a late afternoon nap, the fun starts back up at 7 P.M. for the Bachelor Auction, when it’s the bachelors’ turn to entertain the ladies and vie for their favor. The ladies in attendance may purchase, at fair market value, a feisty bachelor to accompany them at the Bachelor Ball. Each bachelor promises a drink, a dance, and, of course, the most honorable intentions. TICKET PRICES: $25 General Admission to the auction, $20 for a catalog, and $55 each for a Reserved VIP seat up front. (30 VIP seats are available). Only women can attend.

Talkeetna Taxi's Sober Rides will be provided 9pm -5am, by Geri and Eric Denkewalter, LouAnne Carroll-Tysdal, and Taryn Hosman on Saturday night (9PM – 5AM) Sponsored by the Bachelor Society.

They will get you home safely, and get you back to your car in the morning. Got a pen? Write this number down. Sober Rides: 733-TAXI (3383). Don't worry, it will be posted all over town. Many people catch their Sober Ride at the Talkeetna Roadhouse, where, once again, you can get breakfast all night long. Breakfast starts at midnight, and so do the stories.

Last year's Auction raised $22,000. The Society donated half of the Auction's proceeds to a fund with the Alaska Community Foundation and the Jessica Stevens Foundation which directly funds the Sunshine Community Health Center's efforts to support women and children that have been victimized by domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Thank you to Robert Ambrose, President of the Jessica Stevens Foundation, for explaining the serious nature of the Society's work to a rowdy and well intentioned crowd. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, participated and attended. Congratulations to last year's Wilderness Woman. We hope to see everyone again at this year's Auction.
